Upgrading from Xandros 2Or installing on top of another Debian OS for that matter. Do yourself a favor, and read the DebianKwikis entry on: How do I replicate a Debian system? Or, what is the easiest method of installing on a new computer, the same packages that you have on an existing computer? You should save that list of packages, and then after upgrading, restore them to your new system. Otherwise, you must be careful if you are upgrading an existing system with lots of custom software installed as the results may not be what you expected! Especially if you've installed packages without any package management (such as from source or in-place binaries). Read about finding this out the hard way at Xandros3UpGradeNOT. How do I load a hardware module Xandros missed? For example, the hardware detection seems to miss the Initio SCSI controller I have. All that's needed to fix this is to add the module name you want loaded to the end of the /etc/modules file. This is a lot simpler than it was in earlier versions of Xandros, and should apply to other 2.6 kernel Linux distributions. Purchasing Xandros 3.0Xandros 3.0 can be purchased online directly from Xandros, or through a local Missouri reseller.
