XandrosAndXtermsAdapted from http://forums.xandros.com/viewtopic.php?t=6990 I had a few old machines and bits of hardware (without Harddrives) lying around that I wanted to turn into X Terminals to log into my Xandros box with the absolute minimum of fuss. Setting up the ServerTo get X to accept connections on my Xandros 'Server' I followed the instructions in the following thread: http://forums.xandros.com/viewtopic.php?t=487 Setting up the clientThen I burnt a stripped down Morphix CD containing: You have to insert the .mod file into the Morphix ISO before burning it. See Morphix How To Add Modules documentation. Using an ISO editor is the easiest. Boot off the Morphix CD on your client and type in the following when you get to a prompt: /usr/X11R6/bin/XFree86 -query 1.1.1.124 Replace the ip address with your Xandros 'Servers'. You should then get a login to your Xandros box looking pretty on your screen. ResultA million times better performance than VNC as all the rendering happens locally. You can even load the commercial NVIDIA drivers and use 3d programs like Blender ( http://www.blender3d.com/ ) I'm running an AMD 800Mhz with 400MB of ram and it runs fairly sweetly with 3 clients. Stable Xandros EVERYWHERE. -- malcoll The VNC WaySee http://forums.xandros.com/viewtopic.php?t=14512 Back to XandrosKwikis |
