XandrosHardwareDetectionHOW- TOIf you're having problems with hardware modules not being loaded for hardware you know are there (i.e. you can manually issue a 'modprobe' or 'insmod' for and get them to work), and they're in your /etc/devices/devices.inf, but somehow don't seem to get loaded at boot time, then these tips may restore your system to use the device(s) in question. If your hardware that used to be working but now suddenly isn't (such as a network card, or sound), then you can force the system to re-detect the hardware for that category and regenerate the configuration files to make them load when the system boots. The categories are:
For example, to re-detect your network cards, as root, issue the following command: /etc/devices/conf_util/network For example, to re-detect your audio cards, as root, issue the following command: /etc/devices/conf_util/audio Each of these will rebuild the individual $CLASS.modules file in /etc/devices/modules.d/ as well as rebuild the /etc/devices/modules.d/modules. After you're done, make sure you re-run 'xangenmodules' to rebuild your Xandros system's main module configuration file, /etc/modules. Then reboot, and the system should detect your hardware and load the right driver modules again. Back to XandrosKwikis |
