Support
- Xandros is recommending you use the web form at http://www.xandros.com/contact.html due to spam flooding of their public addresses. e.g. mailto:support@xandros.com
- If you're contacting Xandros support, make sure you include your serial/registration number that was on the card or sticker that came with your Xandros.
- If you discover a bug and would like to report it, use the web form link above or send an email to: bugs@xandros.com
For those really, really hard-to-get-through-support or business issues, take it as high up in the food chain as you want to go:

- Ming Poon, VP Software Development

Upgrading Xandros
Please see the DebianKwikis for instructions on preserving your installed applications prior to the upgrade.
Please see the XandrosUpgradeHOW- TO for instructions on how to migrate the saved user home directories after the upgrade. Don't forget about the root user home directory.
Xandros Desktop OS Flavors
- STD - Standard Edition
- The Standard Edition is a more economical desktop Linux for users who don't require the same level of Windows compatibility. You get most of the Windows compatibility features of the Deluxe Edition but the ability to run Windows applications is not included. Whether you're at home, school, or at work you'll find just what you need to share files, write a report, surf the Internet, listen to music, play games, or do almost anything else on Linux.
- EDU - Educational Edition
- The Educational Edition is based on the Business Edition, and is a complete desktop solution. It has an immediately familiar user interface and requires no prior Linux experience to use. The Education Edition includes all the application students and faculty need, while providing the necessary control and security network administrators need to protect their networks. The Educational Edition is licensed in three categories.
| Category | Qualifications |
| Private Use | Eligible students and faculty can purchase Xandros Education products for personal use. To qualify for personal use education discounts, you must demonstrate current affiliation with an educational institution. |
| Educational Institution Implementation | Educational institutions may purchase Xandros Education solutions at additional discounts based on their size. Xandros can also customize solutions based on the institution's needs. |
| Site licenses | We offer tiered site licensing to make Xandros products accessible to all institutions regardless of their size. |
- DLX - Deluxe Edition
- The Deluxe Edition is a full-featured desktop Linux for users who want maximum compatibility with Microsoft Windows.
- SurfSide Edition
- The SurfSide Edition is a desktop Linux bundled with a USB headset, and lets you surf the Web, send e-mail, talk on the phone (VOIP through an arrangement with Skype), send instant messages, remotely connect to your computer at the office, set up a personal firewall, get weather updates, and more.
- XN - Xandros Networks
- All registered Xandros Desktop OS users receive a free subscription to Xandros Networks which provides free fixes and patches for your version of Xandros Desktop OS, one secure source for all your updates, and single-click access to one of the world's largest inventories of free Linux software.
- BE - Business Edition

- XDMS - Xandros Desktop Management Server

Repository notes:
There is also the Xandros Desktop OS, unofficial update archive site. However, only portions of the site are APT repositories, and you will have to locate your file and download it directly to install it.
The UUAS serves two purposes:
- As a location to get device drivers required to get your already installed and working Xandros Desktop system on the Internet (such as Network Cards and Modems). Many of these drivers are officially available in Xandros Networks, but if you do not have a working Internet connection, you are unable to use Xandros Networks or Xandros Update to get them.
- As a location to get unofficial test versions of new drivers for other types of devices, or other unofficial patches to the system.
Other Xandros News
Getting the new kernel update in smaller chunks
See http://support.xandros.com/downloads/desktop_2.0/xandros_networks/ if you don't want to upgrade your Xandros in one big honkin' download with Xandros Networks. For example, if your internet connection is by modem.
Upgrading Xandros to Mozilla 1.6
This is easily done using Xandros Networks, and so the page describing how to do this has been deprecated. The link remains in case someone wants to refactor it into an upgrade-to-not-yet-released-on- Xandros- Networks page.
Re-Enabling the KDE Theme Manager
You can re-enable the KDE theme manager by doing the following:
- Edit usr/share/applnk/settingsLookNFeel/kthememgr.desktop as 'root' (Administrator)
- Remove the line "NoDisplay=True".
