Support

  • Xandros is recommending you use the web form at http://www.xandros.com/contact.html due to spam flooding of their public addresses. e.g. mailto:support@xandros.com
  • If you're contacting Xandros support, make sure you include your serial/registration number that was on the card or sticker that came with your Xandros.
  • If you discover a bug and would like to report it, use the web form link above or send an email to: bugs@xandros.com

For those really, really hard-to-get-through-support or business issues, take it as high up in the food chain as you want to go:

  • Andy Typaldos, CEO
  • Ming Poon, VP Software Development

Upgrading Xandros

Please see the DebianKwikis for instructions on preserving your installed applications prior to the upgrade.

Please see the XandrosUpgradeHOW- TO for instructions on how to migrate the saved user home directories after the upgrade. Don't forget about the root user home directory.

Repository notes:

There is also the Xandros Desktop OS, unofficial update archive site. However, only portions of the site are APT repositories, and you will have to locate your file and download it directly to install it.

The UUAS serves two purposes:

  1. As a location to get device drivers required to get your already installed and working Xandros Desktop system on the Internet (such as Network Cards and Modems). Many of these drivers are officially available in Xandros Networks, but if you do not have a working Internet connection, you are unable to use Xandros Networks or Xandros Update to get them.
  2. As a location to get unofficial test versions of new drivers for other types of devices, or other unofficial patches to the system.

Other Xandros News

Getting the new kernel update in smaller chunks

See http://support.xandros.com/downloads/desktop_2.0/xandros_networks/ if you don't want to upgrade your Xandros in one big honkin' download with Xandros Networks. For example, if your internet connection is by modem.

Upgrading Xandros to Mozilla 1.6

This is easily done using Xandros Networks, and so the page describing how to do this has been deprecated. The link remains in case someone wants to refactor it into an upgrade-to-not-yet-released-on- Xandros- Networks page.

Re-Enabling the KDE Theme Manager

You can re-enable the KDE theme manager by doing the following:

  • Edit usr/share/applnk/settingsLookNFeel/kthememgr.desktop as 'root' (Administrator)
  • Remove the line "NoDisplay=True".
