ArchLUG - LinuxByExample

Welcome to ArchLUG Linux by Example

The ArchLUG - LinuxByExample website was set up for the express purpose of making it easier for Linux users to collaborate on creating a set of examples for Linux commands - the often-used, newly learned, as well as the less familiar.

The problem, as many of us see it, is that man pages seem to lack useful examples.

We would like to correct that problem and this wiki is an attempt to solve it.

If what you're looking for is not here, or more complex than a command syntax question, you may find what you're looking for at the ArchLUG Kwiki : LinuxStepByStep site ( http://www.linux-sxs.org/index2.html )

WikiRelated (what is wiki, how to use it..)

Note: Please add commands in alphabetical order and maintain the format here...

Please name your page 'LBE-<command>' because most commands are lowercase, and the capitalized "LBE-" prefix makes them automatically a WikiWord, meaning they are automatically linked to whenever used on any page.

You can also use an easier-on-the-eyes form of the bare command word. But in order to get the Kwiki to recognize what is otherwise a normal word as a special WikiWord, you can simply put [brackets] around a word and that will force it to be a link. You should migrate the old page to the new one by visiting the old page, edit it, give it the new name, and save. You will also have to add brackets around the command word when you just use it in any page -- it will not be automatically linked as with the LBE-<command> style.

Discussions about the style of the LBE, page templates, etc. can take place in WikiMeta.
